What’s your new year’s resolution?
It’s a new year, and we at The Writer’s Workout are always looking to try something new. That’s why we’re excited to announce that 2024 is our Year of Courage. But what does that mean, and what can you expect?
The courage to write
It’s sometimes said that there are no courageous people, only courageous acts. This year, we’re encouraging you to take on the courageous act of writing.
It takes guts to start writing, and even more to stick with it to learn and improve. Our words have power, even if we’re the only ones that read them. Putting pen to paper—or fingers to keyboard—is one of the bravest acts there is.
Writing is anything but solitary. Our work touches everyone, from editors, to publications, to readers. Only fellow writers truly know how much courage is needed to write; we rely on each other for strength and guidance.
That’s what The Writer’s Workout is here for: we are a vibrant community dedicated to seeing our peers succeed. We are here to support you, no matter what—which is why we’re focusing on courage not just for a month, but all year long.
We all have the potential to be courageous writers. You don’t need years of writing under your belt or impressive publication credits. All you need is an idea, some support, and the drive to succeed.
Looking ahead at the Year of Courage
Over the next few months, we’ll bring you fresh takes on classic topics. Instead of telling you what’s what, we’ll ask you to take a moment and reflect.
We’ll approach each topic from a place of growth. Our community has evolved over the years, and, undoubtedly, so have you. Thinking deeply about your writing, the what’s and the how’s and the why’s, is an essential part of the writing process and necessary for improvement.
Expect to see a wide range of topics covered: how to better understand your audience, how to use your writing strengths (and weaknesses) to your advantage, how to set new writing goals (or amend old ones), and so much more.
Ultimately, our goal for this year is to help you become a better writer, in whatever way that means to you. Whether you want to understand your own writing process to be more productive, or find out what publications are really looking for (and log fewer rejections), we want to see you succeed.
So please, strap in and join us for our Year of Courage. We can’t wait for you to see all we have to offer.
