VOLUNTEER

Are you passionate about the written word? Are you interested in helping other writers learn and grow their craft? The Writer's Workout is expanding so we're looking for creative individuals to add to our team in a remote capacity.

The Writer's Workout is a 100% volunteer organization; all positions are considered "spare time" with room to grow and ask for less than ten hours per month. Applicants must have a strong desire to help other writers improve.

The Writer's Workout is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Associate Internship Coordinator

The Writer's Workout seeks an organized, literacy-focused individual to assist with most aspects of the Writer's Workout Internship Program. Training is provided.

 

 

DUTIES:

  • Collect and help review applications

  • Assist with interview scheduling

  • Monitor intern progress throughout program

  • Deliver weekly peer review 

 

 

WE WANT TO SEE:

  • REQUIRED: successful completion of The Writer's Workout internship program

  • Strong Plus: exceptional organizational and time management skills

  • Must abstain from full participation in Writer’s Games (audit allowed)

  • Develop inspiring challenges across a range of genres

  • Judge entries; critique preferred

  • Research writing community best practices and trends

  • One blog post per month

Producer, Story Time

Education

The Writer's Workout seeks energetic people passionate about writing to develop a new segment for our educational YouTube channel. This is a brand new, unlaunched segment. Some training is provided.

 

 

DUTIES:

  • Review submissions for new segment: Story Time

  • Select and read aloud 1-3 submissions per month in a video for YouTube

  • Optional: provide on-screen review/critique for selected submissions

  • Optional: manage content release on YouTube, including thumbnail, video splits, descriptions, and release schedule

  • Preferred: short interviews with selected authors, on- or off-screen

 

 

WE WANT TO SEE:

  • Required: High School diploma or equivalent (must be at least 18)

  • Strong appreciation for wide range of writing styles

  • Preferred: video production experience 

  • Preferred: understanding of YouTube platform 

  • Self-starter

  • Demonstrate clear understanding of the purpose of The Writer's Workout

The Writer's Workout seeks typeface perfectionist to format book interiors and nominate published pieces for awards. Training is provided.

  • Select and nominate eligible pieces

  • Cover creation preferred
